"As music, all flees
The theme is the variation
And there can be only one thing on the vanishing lines:
Experimentation - Life"
Improvvisation is the boundary that separates and unites reality and potentiality: reality is the terrain of the rule, of what has been decided, solid and secure. Potentiality is the place where everything can be, where music can take shapes and follow unexpected directions. This elastic threshold is the area in which the three musicians, that join forces to create Primitive Field, dwell, in a constant evolution and synthesis of tribal atmospheres, jazz references and glimpses of contemporary music.
Christian Muela - Didgeridoo + FX live set
Roberto Bellatalla - Doublebass & bells
Ivan Macera - Drum & Percussions
Primitive Field initially started as a duo with Christian Muela and Ivan Macera.
Around two years ago bassist Roberto Bellatalla joined in to form the actual trio, that has performed extensively in clubs in and out of Rome.
The trio makes use of traditional instruments like drum kit and a double bass, along with other more unusual ones, like a telescopic tunable didgeridoo, at times modified by the use of electronic devices, and a percussion set made out of stones and metal tools tuned to form xylophones, or shakers made with dried leaves and shells.
The music is entirely improvised, based on a the ability to listen and a fervent creative vein. It stems from jazz, but moves further, in search of an original, different language that explores sound and tone.
